Jared Ward

Jared took a gamble in 2015. Graduating with a masters degree in Statistics from BYU and married with two kids, he took a year off his "career path" to prepare for the 2016 Olympic Qualifier race in LA. In a crucial moment with 3 miles to go in the 26.2 mile race, severely dehydrated (Jared finished 15 lbs lighter than he started) Jared thought of his wife, parents, coaches, family, professors, and others. The thought motivated Jared to "give back" to this support crew by giving his all (a little honey would have helped too...). 15 minutes later Jared crossed the line in 3rd, qualifying him for the Olympics. His "career path" changed. Jared teaches and researches as a professor at BYU, coaches athletes online and on the BYU XC team, is a church-going proud husband and father of four, and is bent on making the Tokyo 2020 Olympic team in hopes of improving on his 6th place Rio finish. Honey just might make the difference.
